- Internal team/process upgrades and experimentation
- Tech debt, Framework changes ,etc.
- Process improvements
- new idea creation and implementation
- Unstructured time
Roadblocks/Issues/Concerns:

Ways to try and fit innovation into the schedule:
- Last couple hours of a day
- a couple days each sprint
- a set hack-a-thin ( one day each quarter or one week each year )
- Hide it
- in place of teams going to conferences instead propose a week of innovation.
- Dedicated portion of the team to innovation (a labs team)
Successful implementations:
- 2 days innovation in a 9 day sprint
- afternoon of innovation once a week and then hand off to a labs group for implementation
Ways to get buy in:
- Gather and share data (good or bad)
- Radiators to the team and externals
- What's being worked, and what's the progress
- Demo the results
- Performance graphs of statistics gathered
- Ideas list
- Frequent show & tell
Goals/Motivations/Reasons to have innovation in an organization:
- Performance improvements from innovation on frameworks, internal processes, tech debt
- Potential marketable products derived from the innovation of new feature ideas
- Learning/Spiking
- Potential up and coming problems in iteration would get resolved early
- Team morale
